Mezcal Tasting

Mezcal tasting in Oaxaca. Rosita de Borracho is a space dedicated to share culture through the senses of smell and taste, these two senses contributing to the sensory memory of each mezcal region of Mexico.

In this space you will find an infinite series of aromas and flavors that hosts the ecosystems, land, silver, water, processing techniques, hands of people who have contributed to care for and work this drink called mezcal wine.

To visit Rosita de Borracho is to spend time with lots of different territories of Mexico where we can taste and learn about the history of each producer through their mezcals. Tastings are by reservation only and there are two spaces in Oaxaca de Juárez. The first one is located at Calle Allende 415, downtown from 09:00 to 17:00 hours and in the north of the city (20 minutes from downtown Oaxaca) at Arcos Street in the Volcanes neighborhood from 15:00 to 21:00 hours.

In an non-pretentious space where visitors can enjoy a unique and unrepeatable selection of distillates from Oaxaca and Mexico. Each batch has been curated or chosen by Samuel, in them traceability is highlighted, with the purpose of transmitting that each project keeps sustainability and agroforestry practices. We try to transmit the historical taste of the Palenqueros and Palenqueras, the cultural traits, the identity and the origin of the communities where they come from, are the tangible and tacit elements of MEXICO'S DRINKABLE HERITAGE.

Esta es una degustación de Mezcal que nadie puede encontrar en ningún otro lugar de México (o del mundo). Te irás con una experiencia reveladora sobre la calidad y la alegría que el Mezcal de primer nivel puede brindar.

Sam, a knowledgeable aficionado of good mezcal, who works with local producers in Oaxaca and Mexico, has selected an unparalleled collection of traditional, elevated, top quality, superior, small batch mezcals that you will likely never find in one place except here. The tasting room itself is a shrine to Mezcal and the tasting experience is offered with elegance, knowledge and true passion for the art and culture of Mezcal.

Important note: Sam personally offers tastings in Spanish only, but an English interpreter can be arranged with advance notice. If you don't speak or understand Spanish (as we do), please contact us in advance; you can send a message here and give him a day to arrange everything for you or your group. It's worth it.

The “Rosita de Borracho” tasting room is located north of downtown Oaxaca de Juarez, on the second floor of a residence, so plan on a cab ride of up to 20 minutes from downtown.

You will be able to purchase most (if not all) of the high quality artisanal mezcals you try at the tasting. We have a couple 🙂

The price of the tasting is $800 Mexican Pesos per person. The space has bottles of mezcal from all over Mexico that you can taste or buy, has for sale very precise literature on the history of this great distillate.

Rosita de Borracho, Destilados de Mexico, we aim to educate through each mezcal where the spirit of each Palenquero and palenquera is centered, which is the knowledge that is the essence of this great distillate with identity.
